Hajj Simulation for Respiratory Infectious Diseases

This dashboard simulates the spread of respiratory infectious diseases among Hajj pilgrims and local residents in Makkah and surrounding cities (for example Jeddah and Madinah).

This is Hajj Simulation Model (HaSim) – Version 1, with ONLY three core transmission parameters active in Version 1.

Additional layers will be active in the next Version (including full agent-based crowd simulation with detailed people interactions considering health system interventions such as Vaccination and Mask use) are planned for Version 2.

These advanced layers require GPU-accelerated and high-performance computing infrastructure to model the full agent-based epidemic with people mobility and pilgrims travel.

Results from this simulation rely on simplified, estimated parameters and are provided solely for scenario analysis and proof-of-concept purposes.

Achieving higher accuracy would depend on using accurate Hajj data with high research-quality.
